The high-end streetwear label A-Cold-Wall* and the shoe manufacturer Dr. Martens have teamed together once more to redesign the 1461 Oxford Shoe for spring 2023.
The pair’s most recent project honours A-Cold-Wall* and Dr. Martens’ progress to date and returns to the model that launched their collaboration in the fall of 2021. To contrast the severely moulded edges of the shoe’s design, the new leather used to reappraise the shoes offers an unexpected silky smoothness.
Samuel Ross, a British designer, keeps committed to the A-Cold-Wall* concept, which is known for its exploration and invention of materials. The 1461 Oxford Shoe comes in black and grey and is distinguished by its sharp lines and stark monochrome design. Ross’ design language’s signature utilitarian elements dominate the silhouette.
The 1461 Oxford shoe is made of water-resistant, tumbled nubuck and is designed with working-class Britain’s architectural motifs in mind. Functional zippers replace traditional lacing systems, and metal rivets are added to the uppers over the toe boxes and rears. Along with typical AirWear pull tabs, the heel counters have the linear logo of ACW*. The design is finished off by co-branded insoles, semi-transparent rubber outsoles, and coloured stitching.
