Where do I even begin? British designer Dame Vivienne Westwood passed away a few days ago at the age of 81 in London. Fashion designers, commentators, connoisseurs and enthusiasts have been expressing their unsurprising love for Vivienne and sending their heartfelt sympathy and condolences to her family.
Vivienne Westwood is no ordinary name it is rather a vigorous name that sparks discourses or simply memories of 1970s punk fashion trends and phenomena. Vivienne was one of the architects who brought modern punk and new-wave fashion into mainstream media. Her influences were solidified through the establishment of clothing shops Sex and Seditionaries in the mid-1970s which were being co-run by herself and her husband at the time Malcolm McLaren.
I was messianic about punk, seeing if one could put a spoke in the system in some way.

Vivienne continued building a strong fashion brand and reputable name for herself as not only a fashion designer but as an activist all the way to her last days. Her legacy will live on and her influences will transcend through generations to come. There’s no punk fashion subculture without Dame Vivienne Westwood, may her soul rest in eternal peace.
