Black Sherif, Blxckie and Nadia Nakai Bagged Nominations At The 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards

The BET Hip Hop Awards are back for their 17th annual edition and it comes as no surprise to see a number of African artists nominated in different categories. One that caught my eye was the “Best International Flow” nominations list with three artists from different parts of the continent, Black Sherif also known and referred to by his fans as Blacko, our very own Blxckie and Nadia Nakai.

The three African artists are nominated alongside six other artists from different corners of the world; Central Cee from the UK whose song ‘Doja’ has gone TikTok viral, Haviah Mighty from Canada, Knucks from the UK, Le Juiice from France and the Brazilian duo Tasha and Tracie.

This marks the first-ever BET Hip Hop Award nomination for Black Sherif but also marks the second “Best International Flow” nomination for a Ghanaian artist following Sarkodie’s nomination and win in 2019. Nadia Nakai is a Zimbabwean-born South African-based rapper and it’s safe to say she is amongst the leading ladies of Hip Hop on the continent, keep flying both the Zimbabwean and South African flags high.

Blxckie on the other hand took to Twitter to express his disbelief with regards to the nomination, but if anyone is deserving, it’s definitely somnyana yena yedwa. Don’t miss the award ceremony which is set to take place on the 30th of September 2022, at Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta.
