Firstly, National Hispanic Heritage Month is annually celebrated from the 15th of September to the 15th of October in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States, and this is in accordance with Google. Converse recently unveiled their “¡Mi Gente, Mi Alegría!” which translates to “My people, My joy” collection in celebration of this year’s cultural month.
Not does the collection celebrate the heritage of Hispanics, but it also has sneaker designs and elements claimed to be rooted in celebrating the diversity of art, food and people that make up the Hispanic culture. The collection includes; Chuck 70 Mi Gente, Mi Alegria, Chuck Taylor All Star Mi Gente, Mi Alegria, Run Star Legacy CX Mi Gente, Mi Algeria and two t-shirt options – one for men and the other one for women.
Lastly, “Mi Gente” messaging is stamped on the outsole, license plate and sock-liner, a detail that was important for the Latin American designers that worked on the Converse capsule.
