Born Jaylah Hickmon – known artistically as Doechii is an American rapper who rose to social media fame after ‘Yucky Blucky Fruitcake’ went viral on TikTok in 2020. She followed through with ‘Persuasive’ a single she released earlier this year that debuted on the BET Awards alongside ‘Crazy’ which earned her mainstream recognition. The single also went as far as earning her a collaboration with SZA on ‘Persuasive Remix.’
With two bodies of work under her belt and being named as a part of the 2022 Freshman class, I think it’s safe to say this swamp princess has her guns blazing ready to take over as one of the best female rappers in the US – we really do need rappers like her.
The 24-year-old is now signed under Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE); meaning she has joined a roster of artists that includes SZA and Schoolboy Q. Yesterday colorxstudios announced Doechii as one of the artists that will be performing on their platform this week.
