Fireboy DML Brings Us a New Body of Work Titled “Playboy”

Adedamola Adefolahan, known professionally as Fireboy DML, is a Nigerian singer that has been steadily making a name for himself as one of the African rising superstars with his body of works Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps & APOLLO

Fireboy DML has now released his third studio album titled Playboy, which is said by Apple Music to be a body of work that sees him shift moods entirely — from the vulnerable, introspective, and romantic persona he revealed on 2019 ’s Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps and 2020’s APOLLO, to the self-assured and unmistakably confident mindset that characterizes this project.

Playboy opens up with “Change” which has a very interesting sound to it which reminds me of cinematic sounds or even orchestra. This song talks about the growth he has been attaining over the past few years and how life has been making much more sense as he grows older. Moving on, “Ashawo” and “Sofri” the third and sixth songs on the album are more of the afrobeat songs you’d expect from Fireboy DML.

Of course, the album features two of the biggest songs globally right now “Peru” the original song and “Peru” the remix with Ed Sheeran. These two songs have been topping billboard 100 charts and making rounds on Tiktok and Instagram, they have undeniably becomes a global festival anthem. The closing song, “Glory” just like the opening song, has an interesting sound which is a subtle rock band sound.
