Fruché A Blend Of Fashion and Art

Fruché is a Nigerian contemporary fashion brand founded by Frank Aghuno in 2014. His passion for fashion started at a very young age of 11 Frank would take his mother’s headscarves and hand sew them into his own pieces. Frank Aghuno started the brand when he was studying at the University of Lagos with only N5000 (R229.28) and the help of his siblings. Fruché is a combination of Frank’s English name and his Igbo name Uche.

Feminism plays a huge role in Fruché’s brand aesthetic, it is a fuse of contemporary and a mix of traditional artisanal practices, culture, and heritage of Nigeria. Fruché pieces usually have a modern sensibility and opulent runway presence while being both bold and sensual, historical and futuristic. The pieces are ready to wear and are for women who are confident and would like to embrace the culture. The brand uses a cultural technique which is hand-dyed, indigo-dyed adire fabrics, aso-oke fabric and Akwa ocha. Fruché is sold globally through Folklore, Farfetch, Industrie Africa and Wolf & Badger.
