In May of this year, Instagram launched a feature where users could connect their crypto wallets to Instagram as part of their digital marketplace feature they’ve been testing with users in the United States.
Instagram recently announced that it will allow a select few creators in 100 countries to create, mint and sell their own NFTs on the marketplace. The connected NFTs will be able to be visible on your feed with a shimmery effect to show the NFT’s authenticity.
“This move represents a remarkable milestone in the evolution of Instagram’s existing NFT functionality and a natural next step to bring Web3 to the mainstream,”
Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal.
The move to allow creators to mint and sell their own NFTs fits into Meta’s grand plan of the Metaverse. Will the availability of NFT minting and selling processes lead to mass adoption among common users?
