Kendrick Lamar Displays Amazing Artistry On New “Count me out” Visuals

Co-directed by Kendrick Lamar with Dave Free, the rapper enlists 77 year old English actress, Helen Mirren to co-star in this newly released visual representation for Count Me Out.

Following his five year hiatus, Kendrick Lamar’s return happened in May 2022 with the release of his fifth studio album, “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers”, which is argued to be Kendrick’s most forgettable full length offering in his catalogue… But to many others, the album seems to age like some fine wine as Lamar continues rolling out more visual pieces for fan-favourite singles.

When heard the first time, you get the idea that the track focuses on Kendrick Lamar calling out a once-significant person in his life who he loves to prove wrong. The theme in this album is mixed with toxicity and reflective moments where Kendrick realizes that he needs to get back down to Earth.

Throughout the song, Kendrick Lamar steps into a new chapter of his life, as a result of feeling obligated to open up more in his relationship. This is represented as a therapy session with Helen Mirren in the official music video.

Nearing the end of the song, Lamar realises that he is too good for this “person” and that speaking his truth and leaving the relationship brings about much happier emotions within him.
