Khanyisa initially rose to fame courtesy of the hilarious content she uploaded to TikTok, however, she has always had an interest in pursuing a musical career, often posting covers to her YouTube channel. Although this isn’t necessarily a video she would promote today; below is one of her earliest posts on her YouTube channel.
2 years later, she went on to release her debut EP titled Journeys. The offering was a brilliant execution of a brand of Afropop reminiscent of yesteryears leaders of the genre and really displayed her true vocal and songwriting capabilities on a complete offering. In November of 2021, she released her second EP titled Soft, which saw her dive straight into Amapiano, boasting appearances from genre heavyweights like Ch’cco, Lady Du and Mr JazziQ. The EP also saw her bag her first breakout song in “Ndiyakhala” featuring Marcus MC and Tsiki XIII.
The time has finally come for Khanyisa to make another splash in the Amapiano scene with her announcing that her upcoming EP will be available on the 7th of October, which happens to fall just after her birthday. We already have a taste of what we can expect from the EP with 2 singles, “Mali Yami” and “Inkukhu” and the 6-track offering also has guest appearances from Sir Trill, Sino Msolo and more.
