Lesego Seoketsa | New Residency & Bad Posture Exhibition

Lesego Seoketsa who you may know as Azania Forest on social media is a creative director and founder of her self-titled studio, Lesego Seoketsa Studio. Two months ago, on the 31st of March 2022, Undiscovered Canvas, which is defined as a gateway to the young and diversified cultural mosaic of Africa announced Lesego as their new and third recipient of the Undiscovered Canvas Art Residency in Mandelieu La Napoule, South of France. To further explain, Undiscovered Canvas is a platform that gives African artists access to opportunities, places, markets and also expands their audiences which more than often increases the value in the international art market.
Three weeks ago there was an opening of a group exhibition titled “Bad Posture” curated by Marli Elizabeth Odendaal at Eclectica Contemporary that Lesego is a part of alongside Zenade Mtati, another South African visual artist, Ebuka Pascal an Abuja-based visual artist and a couple of others. Bad Posture is interpreted as “a group show that aims to sidestep the trap of traditional portraiture and leap into the realm of unconventional, tongue in cheek, reflections. The common thread is that the artists are all born in the ’90s, all have a sense of dystopian optimism and they are all from the African continent.”
The exhibition is still underway and there have been hosting First Thursdays celebrations for the group exhibition at Eclectica Contemporary curated by Marli Elizabeth Odendaal and Shamiela Tyer, one was hosted yesterday.
