Major League DJz make history with amapiano on global platforms
Multi award-winning South African music duo, Major League DJz, continue to fly the South African flag high making big moves representing the amapiano sound internationally.

The in-demand duo made history this weekend as the first amapiano act billed at the world’s largest and most well-known dance music festival, Tomorrowland, which took place in Belgium, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Major League DJz’s historic set at Tomorrowland was preceded by another global feat as they graced the cover of DJ Mag as the first amapiano act on the coveted cover, and the third South Africans (previously graced by Black Coffee and DJ Lag).

DJ Mag is the biggest DJ magazine, so it means a lot to be on the cover internationally.

Banele Mbere adds: “It’s been a dream for us to be on the cover. We’ll treasure this moment.”
The name Major League DJz is now synonymous with having popularised the amapiano genre. Their consistent endeavour in championing the homebred sound on global stages and platforms hasn’t gone unnoticed.
