Meet South Africa’s Digital Artist Terrance Maluleke

Terence Maluleke, also known as Tako is a digital visual developer from Soweto South Africa who focuses on digital animation and illustration. He studied Animation at the Animation School, in Johannesburg. Tako’s love for graphic art started when he was in the 8th grade his favourite teacher introduced him to a vector program called Coral draw since then he has been telling different stories through his art. His sources of inspiration are various African cultures.
Terence is one of the founders of Kasi Sketchbook. Kasi Sketchbook seeks to establish drawing groups in the townships that would inspire young artists to daily “Draw Your World” in their Kasi Sketchbooks. He is also the founder of WAY WAY where he makes illustrations using South African legendary artists and sells them as NFTs or T-shirts. He has worked with Warner Bro’s, Sony, Netflix, Bluesky and CN. His most recent collection is ‘Calla me lily’ a variation of different types of lilies, and his use of detail and texture in each piece is amazing it makes me appreciate the art.
