New York Based Visual Artist Nina Abney Collaborates with Air Jordan
Nina Chanel Abney is a Chicago-born and New York-based contemporary visual artist. She is said to combine representation and abstraction in her paintings as a means to capture the frenetic pace of contemporary culture. Bringing up subjects as complex and diverse as race, celebrity, religion, politics, sex, and art history, her works abstain from linear storytelling in place of disjointed narratives.

Nina has joined forces with Air Jordan to bring us a collaborative genderless 11-piece capsule that has clothing and accessories that range from reversible jerseys, funnel-neck tops, tracksuit-inspired jackets, pants, sport-bras, t-shirts and hoodies.

This collaboration also features a new collaborative shoe, Air Jordan 2. The Nina Chanel Abney x Air Jordan 2 comes in two colourways, one comes with a white leather upper with reptile texture overlay panels and grey suede at the toe and heels. Other details include a Red heel counter, Black shoelaces, and Abney’s artwork featured on the hangtag while her name is printed on the insoles. The other colourway differs as it is low cut and its heel counter is green instead, with white shoelaces.

No one understands the power, relevance, and reach of basketball culture more than Nina Chanel Abney, as she is a living embodiment of its legacy. This collaboration is as much about the design of an idea as it is about the product.
