Ballantines is one of the world’s second best selling whisky, it was introduced in 1827, 195 years ago by George Ballentines. Besides it being a whisky brand, Ballentines prides itself in celebrating music communities through its True Music initiative and its longstanding collaboration with Boiler Room. True Music is defined as “not about genre, not about fame. It’s here to represent and celebrate music communities and the people that make them thrive.”
Whereas, Boiler Room is a multifaceted genre-spanning platform for a curated and commissioned underground film exploring themes of performance, identity, youth culture and anti-establishment. Over the last six years, Ballentines has partnered with Boiler Room, the world’s biggest broadcaster of new underground music, with a simple mission – showcase & celebrate the most credible music scenes & stories from around the world.
From spotlighting the birth and legacies of House and Afrobeats coming out of South African townships to thumping techno beats played in sub-zero temperatures of Russia, we’ve documented every step of the way. Ballentines has joined forces with Boiler Room to support the Primetime Cape Town night event happening this coming Friday at Waiting Room, with a stellar lineup featuring DJs from different parts of the world; The Whooligan (USA), Doowap (JHB), Rarri, MOJVKI (JHB), Verningitup, Senhora and Fine$$a Williams.
