Steve Lacy is an American musician, singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer that is occasionally in front of the camera. He gained popularity and recognition as the guitarist of the R&B group The Internet. Lacy may not have a long list of bodies of work but his influences and achievements are undeniable. His debut project, titled Apollo XXI was released three years ago in May 2019 and it earned him a nomination at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Lacy has now released his sophomore album titled Gemini Rights which has been doing exceptional. “Gemini Rights is me getting closer to what makes me a part of all things, and that is feelings. Feelings seem like the only real things sometimes”, explained Steve Lacy on Apple Music. The album is a double disc with five songs on each side of the disc. Several big names have been ranting (for a lack of a better word) about this album including Kanye West, “Album is beautiful. One of the most inspiring people on the planet.”

This body of work is probably one of the best plays on R&B/Soul as it has influenced or rather sounds that are ambiguous. Lacy opens up with “Static” which is 2 minutes and 36 seconds of Lacy showing off his vocal and guitar playing skills. Before the official release of Gemini Rights, Lacy had released three of the songs from the album as singles as part of the album rollout plan. “Mercury” including its visuals was released on the 15th of June 2022, “Bad Habits” also including its visuals were released on the 29th of June 2022 and lastly “Sunshine” one of the two songs with a feature was released on the 14th of July 2022.
I write about my anger, sadness, longing, confusion, happiness, horniness, anger, happiness, confusion, fear, etc., all out of love and all laughable, too. The biggest lesson I learned at the end of this album process was how small we make love. I want to love unconditionally now. I will make love bigger, not smaller. To me, Gemini Rights is a step in the right direction. I’m excited for you to have this album as your own as it is no longer mine. Peace.
