The children’s television programme Teletubbies, which kids liked but some parents found creepy, and the London-based Christian Cowan fashion house collaborated to create the high-heeled boots. It seems like our childhood is being brought to life by all these brands from MSCHF boots, Mario boots and now Teletubby boots, which I feel is starting to get creepy.
The collaboration also includes a few understated items, such as denim jackets and T-shirts featuring photographs of the adored creatures posing alongside fashion models, in the capsule. But the thing that has us the most baffled is the previously mentioned pair of green boots: Dipsy’s torso is represented by the shafts of the shoes, and the character’s arms, head, and soul-piercing look are added on top.
When deciding what our next collaboration would be, we were throwing around lots of pop culture icons, and then it struck us, let’s do THE icons. We treated Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po & Tinkey-Winkey like the legends they are, shot in an Avedon-esque style, these garments tell the story of our four legendary characters, who have come to step on everyone’s necks and have autographed these pieces for their adoring fans.Christian Cowan
