Nigerian Afro-fusion singer, record producer and songwriter Daniel Benson, known professionally as Bnxn fka Buju released visuals for the fifth song ‘In My Mind’ on the Bad Since ’97 EP. This EP is Bnxn’s sophomore project defined as an unflinching attempt to position himself among the greats of Afropop. “In this song, I was trying to reflect on my experience with toxic relationships and I wanted to paint a picture of one person in a relationship wanting the best for the relationship, and the other just bringing pain, trouble, and agony into the relationship, and how it’s all a mess at the end of the day” expressed Bnxn on Apple Music.
The video beautifully captures the juxtaposition of what the song entails. It shows the beauty of the one partner that wants the best for the relationship and on the other hand, it shows the toxicity of the other partner and the complexities that drags along with it.
